Edelman India takes off with Airbus PR mandate for India

Airbus Group India Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Edelman India to manage the strategic communications and media relations mandate for its businesses in India. Edelman India will develop a strategy-and implementation-roadmap to drive high-level media and stakeholder outreach for Airbus’ activities across its commercial aircraft, helicopters and defence and space businesses. Airbus was previously handled by Avian Media, now Avian WE.

Edelman India will focus on reaffirming Airbus’ position as a leading contributor to the aerospace sector in the country, through multi-layered storytelling and comprehensive stakeholder outreach. As per the Airbus India website, the firm is strongly committed to the 'Make in India' programme and have crossed the US $ 500 million mark annual procurement mark from Indian suppliers in 2015.

The firms adds on their formal website that, " The 'Airbus Defence and Space' is supporting the country in building a robust domestic defence industrial base through sharing of technologies and tie-ups with local industry. For example, the division has offered to establish a Final Assembly Line (FAL) in India in partnership with Tata, to produce the C295W military transport aircraft as a replacement for the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Avro fleet. The evaluation process for the programme is ongoing."

For cooperation in space, Airbus says that, "All Indian INSAT communication satellites have been put into orbit by Arianespace, which is partly owned by 'Airbus Defence and Space'. Moreover, the division’s products have been present on many important missions of ISRO including the Mars Orbiter Mission and Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS)."
