1st August 2017
TV journalist turned corporate communications professional,6 Ruchica Tomar has quit Uber India to join travel and hospitality major, MakeMyTrip. Tomar took over this Monday as director- communications and will lead the communications mandate for the firm.
A post graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Mass Communications, Tomar spent 7 years as an anchor/ journalist with 'TV Today' before turning to PR with Weber Shandwick India.
Tomar's departure marks yet another exit from the Uber India PR team, the third in the last two years. In 2015, Chavvi Leekha stayed as head PR for less than 3 months. The company then did not have a PR lead till Mahapatra took charge in July 2016. Mahapatra quit Uber after a 6-month stint to join Nissan. At that time, Amy Kunrojpanya, Uber APAC's director of public policy and communications was appointed interim head of PR for Uber India.
The job opening for head of communications for Uber India and South Asia still remains open at LinkedIn.
