Vivo India consolidates its corporate communications team

Vivo India, owned by BBK Electronics the world's third largest smartphone company, has consolidated its corporate communications team. BBK Electronics also invests in One Plus and Oppo brands, both along with Vivo, popular smartphone brands in India.

The team led by Ritwik Sharma, formerly with Weber Shandwick India, The PRactice and Edelman India, also includes Ankur Sharma and Shubham Arya. Ankur Sharma was the last to join the team in January 2019, with Ritwik Sharma and Subham Arya joining mid-year in 2018.

The new team will be responsible for helping to build a strong corporate brand and will, therefore, manage corporate communications, product outreach, and influencer and analysts’ relations while working closely with their existing agency partner- Weber Shandwick India.

In March 2018, Vivo hired Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador, to promote its products and highlight the camera and music angle that Vivo is focusing on. Vivo is also positioning itself as pushing innovation with Vivo's 'Waterdrop' concept phone Apex 2019 being unveiled this week. Waterdrop is taken from the Chinese sci-fi book, 'The Three Body Problem' that became a global sensation when Mark Zuckerberg recommended it. The 'waterdrop' concept from the book implies a totally smooth surface on an object, therefore hinting at a bezel-free glass unibody Vivo Apex 2019.

In December last year, Vivo announced the setting up of a new manufacturing facility, with an investment of 4,000 crore rupees, in the Yamuna Expressway region of Uttar Pradesh, in addition to its factory already up and running in Greater Noida. The Greater Noida factory is one of the firm's 4 global manufacturing centers.
