Idea Cellular, Vodafone India and Nokia make great PR calls this week

Idea Cellular’s Honey Bunny jingle gathers hits

You will either love or hate Idea Cellular’s new Honey Bunny ad jingle. This is kind of a perfect  sweet place for a new ad jingle, the sort of reaction that generates hits and creates news.

The jingle, packed with catchy hooks around words such as Honey, Bunny, Pumpkin, has crossed one million views in the last two weeks since its launch. This has generated speedy coverage, prompting the Economic Times to profile the viral ad and its well coordinated social media campaign.

The jingle, created by film director Amit Trivedi (well-known for his edgy music for films such as Dev D , which included small town Elvis impersonators with a brass band), has generated classic word-of-mouth PR, with stories even referencing Idea Cellular’s famous “What an Idea SIrji“ line. Enough said.

Vodafone India is Made For You

Vodafone’s series of Made For You ad campaign, with slice of life vox pops, has already made news.

Extending the brand expression of customised phone offers for every person, Vodafone put together this spot where the participants of ongoing celeb reality show Bigg Boss, sit in a Vodafone kiosk talking about what they want the show organisers to get them, in order to make their life in the fishbowl a little easier.

Rather than the usual awkward product placement and calls on a Vodafone enabled phone, this placement was direct and did not interrupt the feel of the show. The heavy daily PR around Bigg Boss, ensure ongoing traction.

Nokia rings up great PR with app contests and "trendify" buttons

Nokia is running two different social media campaigns to gain traction for its Lumia line of phones. Both are integrated campaign that neatly create a buzz around the Nokia Lumia line of phones and creates hooks for future PR.

The first campaign, designed to create a buzz among young people around the Nokia Lumia 510, has created this microsite that let’s participants post a text, video, picture or link to earn a chance to win a Nokia Lumia 510. If their entries make it to the “top trendifiers” of the week list.

With the second campaign, Nokia has launched an interesting app development contest to grow the app list for Windows Marketplace. The “Nokia Lumia Your Wish is My App” contest makes it easy for anyone to submit their dream App idea without  necessarily being a developer. Open till 31st December 2012, the winner, who will be determined through public voting from a shortlist created by celeb judges including the Tech Guru Rajiv Makhni and celeb chef Vikas Khanna, stands to win one million Rupees. The winner will also be featured on a show on NDTV.
