Arijit De joins leading logistics firm Allcargo Logistics as global communications advisor

Arijit De is now global communications advisor with Allcargo Logistics, India’s largest listed logistics company

De will report directly to chairman Shashi Kiran Shetty. His mandate is to build the Group’s brand in the international markets.

Mumbai-based Allcargo operates in over 160 countries, and its international operations - following the acquisition of Belgian multinational ECU Worldwide - is nearly 7-times bigger than the India business. 

Sources said that Allcargo is exploring an international listing.

Allcargo the only Indian company among 18 selected globally to partner with WHO and IMF to distribute the Covid vaccine worldwide. Last year it acquired Gati, one of the oldest and largest logistics companies, to expand in India.

Arijit joins Allcargo after a short stint at Bennett Coleman. He’s spent the last two decades heading the comms function for Standard Chartered South Asia region, Bank of America (including marketing) and Reliance Capital. 

At StanChart, Arijit did a two-year stint in London as global head of media relations managing communications for over a dozen transnational M&A transactions, and was the bank’s chief spokesperson globally.

He started his career as a business journalist and was lastly Business Standard’s Mumbai Bureau Chief for 4 years.
