Arijit Sengupta is Chief Communication Officer at India's top bourse, NSE

Market sources confirmed that Arijit Sengupta has taken over as the chief communications officer at the National Stock Exchange from May 2019. The NSE, which was the first stock exchange in India to introduce screen based trading is also India's top exchange by the number of trades in equity shares.

Sengupta has worked with organisations such as Fidelity International and Wadhawan Global Capital. He has also worked in international markets such as Sydney and London with a finance and tourism communication mandates.

It is understood that he will work on marketing communication and stakeholder management, for the NSE and it's 9 group companies.

Earlier this year, regulator SEBI imposed a fine of 1,100 crore rupees on NSE after charges that the trading system could be manipulated. The NSE, according to The Hindu, has since closed the loopholes. Analysts say that the fine will clear the way for NSE to launch its long-pending IPO.
