Current Global starts work on Linkedin India's communication mandate

Current Global, owned by the Interpublic Group of Companies, that also owns Weber Shandwick has won the LinkedIn India mandate for communications.

Current Global, formed from the merger of 'Creation' and 'Current Marketing' in April 2019, started work on the LinkedIn account on the 23rd of August, 2019.

Commenting on the new mandate Shashikant Someshwar, MD, Current Global in India said, “We are thrilled to have won the opportunity to handle the communications mandate of LinkedIn in India. The dynamic nature of this brand will enable us to exercise the potential of our talent pool at Current Global to deliver exciting work together. We look forward to partnering LinkedIn on their quest to creating economic opportunities for every member of the global workforce.”

LinkedIn was previously handled by Edelman India.

Bhavna Jagtiani, national director of operations, Edelman India told PRmoment India that “We remain proud of our decade long partnership with LinkedIn. Together, we’ve crossed many milestones in establishing LinkedIn as the most effective platform for professionals in India”.

LinkedIn has 630 million users worldwide and over 60 million users in India. The firm also has a new country manager for India, Ashutosh Gupta, who formally takes over today.

During the announcement of his appointment in July 2019, Gupta was quoted in news reports as saying, "India is a strategic market for LinkedIn, and its developing economy and dynamic jobs market is ripe with opportunity for LinkedIn to add value for members and customers."

    Gupta also said at that time, "I also look forward to forging deeper government relationships to inform policy-making with actionable data on jobs and skills and make LinkedIn an integral part of the national agenda. I am excited and humbled to take on the role of Country Manager to drive LinkedIn India into its new decade."
