eBay India’s new PR lead, Girish Huria, says merchants and consumers’ are top priority

Girish Huria, who takes over as communications lead at eBay India from today, told PRmoment India that, “The three important stakeholders for eBay in India are its merchants, consumers and employees and ensuring brand relevance and preference for eBay with each of these stakeholders will be the most important communication priority."

Girish Huria was COO with Avian Media and now takes over at eBay India from Deepa Thomas. Deepa moved to the Mahindra Group in August as General Manager, Group Communications at Mahindra and Mahindra.

Commenting on the growth of ecommerce in India, Girish said that, “The e-commerce sector in India has been quite dynamic in the last few years and many companies have been able to generate brand awareness and visibility in the market due to capital investments. However, the two key drivers of the e-commerce sector are the consumers and the merchants. What will be important in the long run is how one creates stickiness with these two key audiences and at eBay in India we are highly focused on creating value for these two specific audiences. If our consumers continue to prefer us and our merchants remain committed to the brand, then we believe our brand will continue to remain relevant in the market and that is what will differentiate eBay in India.”

E-commerce has regularly featured in the news lately. In August, Flipkart raised 1 billion dollars in fresh capital from both new and existing investors, while Amazon is currently in the news due to a high profile visit to India by Jeff Bezoz.
