In a significant move, Google has hired Chetan Mahajan-led 'The Mavericks' for its comms mandate in India, beginning work from December 2025. The firm won the marquee account following a multi-agency pitch.
The 7-year-old, mid-size firm will handle all lines of business, barring the 2000 crore rupees Google Cloud, which is a separate entity.
'The Mavericks' is positioned as a new age PR firm that is strong on data-based storytelling, which would sync with Google. Interestingly, a decade ago, another mid-size firm, 6 Degrees PR under Rishi Seth and Zach James, won the Google mandate. Subsequent mergers with Cohn & Wolfe and Burson saw the account eventually landing with Burson and now with 'The Mavericks'.
