E-commerce site Lenskart, which combines online sales with offline services has awarded its PR mandate to Avian Media. Along with eyeware, LensKart also offers home eye checks and home trials.
Avian Media will be responsible for Lenskart’s brand outreach in India and will help the brand grow its market share. The PR mandate also includes building demand for the category through campaigns and programs which will educate and spread awareness about the need for better eye care in India and positioning the brand as an industry authority.
“ Our vision is to revolutionize the eyewear category in India and to solve India’s eye care problem and we are excited to have Avian Media on board to collectively work towards achieving our business goals.” said Vikrant Mudaliar, Chief Marketing Officer, Lenskart.
Avian Media currently handles PR duties for eBay India.
E-tailer companies are currently the centre of intense news focus due to large funding and high valuations, leaving them vulnerable to any slip up. During the Nepal earthquake,Lenskart saw it's share of bad press due to an unfortunate sales SMS sent out offering discounts and using the Nepal earthquake as a peg. While Lenskart was quick to apologise it became a social media target with a second SMS that was not sent by the company doing the rounds.
