Michelle DSouza joins Johnson & Johnson as director, communications for its India enterprise

Michelle DSouza, former senior VP and head of communications at Lafarge Holcim, has taken over today as the director and head of communications for the India enterprise of healthcare major Johnson & Johnson.

She will report to the global leader, communication and public affairs based in New Jersey.

DSouza brings 20 years of experience working in India’s communications and public affairs space, where she has worked across sensitive and highly regulated industries including pharmaceuticals and alcohol. 

She puts corporate reputation at the heart of all activity and designs and executes strategic programs that contribute to this objective.

During her stint at Lafarge Holcim, she developed fit-for-purpose communication strategies and plans to transform ACC’s 80-year legacy into a modern, contemporary organisation.

Previously, Michelle spent more than a decade with Diageo India serving as the company’s vice president & head of communications for India., She helped evolve the reputation of the company as well as the alcohol industry through strategic stakeholder engagement and authentic communication. 

Michelle is no stranger to the healthcare industry, having worked in a communications role at Pfizer Limited, Mumbai, earlier in her career.

This is the second high profile communication and policy affairs appointment by Johnson & Johnson this month. Earlier this week. on Monday, Jyotsna Ghoshal  joined Johnson & Johnson, India, as the executive director and enterprise lead for government affairs and public policy. She was earlier senior director, corporate affairs at MSD.
