Michelle Kumar, formerly principal PR at Amazon, has joined the food delivery major Swiggy as VP, PR and corporate communications. She will be leading the corporate communication function.

Kumar, made the announcement via LinkedIn earlier today:

Before Amazon, Kumar had the opportunity to work with IT majors including Mphasis, EMC and IBM conceptualizing and executing communications strategy with clearly defined metrics.

Kumar was also instrumental in setting up the owned media properties for Amazon.

Kumar began her career working for PR firms like Rediffusion DY & R and Clea Public Relations. She also co-set up a PR consulting firm – Wirecom. As a PR consultant, Michelle worked with SAP, Airtel, Channel [V], Hallmark, United Breweries & Spirits (UB Group), Coca-Cola and Monsanto among others.

Kumar has a Masters in Social Work from the prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Jesus & Mary College (JMC), New Delhi.
