Mining giant Vedanta appoints Sujit Patil to head PR, veteran Roma Balwani set to retire

Vedanta has appointed Sujit Patil as head of corporate communications effective June 29, 2017. Sujit will lead all aspects of internal & external communication including branding, media management, social media, public relations and advocacy. Prior to joining Vedanta, Sujit was the vice president and head of corporate communications at Godrej.

Vedanta, which completed its merger with Cairn India in April 2017, is poised to invest over 6 billion dollars in expansion activities in India over the next three to four years. 

Sujit has been responsible for several PR innovations at Godrej, including using ROO or return on objective rather than AVEs and ROI to measure the impact of PR.He is widely considered one of the top corporate communicators in the country.

Sujit is an Instrumentation Engineer from Pune University, MBA in Marketing and holds a Diploma in Advertising and PR from Welingkar Institute. He brings 22 years of rich experience at large conglomerates like Emerson, Tata and Godrej. He has hal stints in sales, marketing and branding, strategy, corporate communications and PR. Sujit is member of the prestigious Arthur W Page Society as well as National Chair for branding & communication for CII - Young Indian’s (Yi).

PR Veteran Roma Balwani, who was handling PR at Vedanta is set to retire by September, 2017.
