Poonam Thakur has joined Prosus Ventures to head Communications for India & South East Asia. She will also support food and edtech investments in the region.
Quite the Unicorn maker, Prosus' portfolio in India spans edtech, food, social commerce, home services and agritech through investments in Byju's, Swiggy, Meesho, UrbanCompany, Dehaat and PharmEasy among others.
Additionally, according to business news reports, some of the portfolio firms including Byju's and PharmEasy are heading for their first IPOs in the next one to two years.
The company is enhancing its presence in South East Asia through recent investments in Ula, Borneo and Aruna.
Thakur has also led consumer, brand & CSR communications and social media at American Express. She headed PR and Communications for OYO, one of India’s youngest unicorns and MakeMyTrip.com - India’s leading OTA. In these roles, she worked extensively with international, national and Indian regional media.
