Google has appointed Risha Magu as head of communications for India, as announced by Gaurav Bhaskar, senior director of global communications and public affairs, APAC, on LinkedIn.

Bhaskar described Magu as someone who has been "at the heart of some of the biggest tech stories India has told," highlighting her understanding of how innovation, policy, and public sentiment intersect — a combination he believes gives her the strategic foresight needed to navigate India's rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Praising her adaptability, Bhaskar noted that Magu has consistently stayed ahead of how communication happens, across speed, scrutiny, channels, and stakes, calling her the kind of leader who builds teams ready for what's next, not just what's now.

The appointment comes at a significant moment for Google in India, as the country writes what Bhaskar called "its next chapter in AI." He added that having the right communications leadership in place at this juncture "couldn't matter more."
