Sameer Bajaj, former director-corporate communications and external officers at Discovery Communications, has moved to WhiteHat Jr as the global head of communications and external affairs.
Bajaj will be reporting to Karan Bajaj, founder of White Hat Jr. The former Discovery CEO set up the coding platform for children about two years ago. It was then sold to edtech major Byju in August 2020 for US $300 million in an all cash deal.
Sameer Bajaj is the first to join White Hat Jr in a global communication role, even as the firm expands to US and Australia and other countries.
Bajaj who has also led corporate communications at Amway and Star Sports is now entering the booming ed tech field. Experts expect the market to touch 3.5 billion by 2020. A Ministry of Human Resources Development Report stated in June 2020 that the EdTech expenditure in India will touch 10 trillion dollars by 2030.
