Jayanta Roy Chowdhury, a veteran economic journalist, has joined the iconic United News of India (UNI) as Editor, in charge of the English language news wire service, earlier this month. Jayanta describes this as, "A bit of a homecoming, since UNI is where my journalism journey began back in the late 1980s."
With 35 years of experience, Jayanta was earlier, resident editor of the Press Trust of India (PTI) for the Eastern Region, where he managed a reporting network spanning 11 states. His longest stint was at The Telegraph, where he spent over two decades directing coverage of business, economy, and regional affairs. He has also worked with The New Indian Express, The Pioneer, and Macmillan India.
Alongside his newsroom roles, Jayanta write columns for several leading newspapers and digital platforms, and regularly appears on All India Radio, Doordarshan, and international media as a commentator on politics and business.
