The PRmoment Tool Review: Social media tool Hootsuite gets 4.5 stars
PR News
In the latest of our PRmoment tool reviews Approach PR’s Shona England-Lees reviews social media tool Hootsuite.
Tool name and maker
Hootsuite, Hootsuite Media.
What this tool does
This tool is a social monitoring and scheduling platform. At Approach we work across lots of social media accounts on behalf of our clients, so it is really important that we can keep an eye on numerous feeds, mentions, notifications and scheduled content all in one place.
Price as reviewed
Limited access for free, or paid access between £25-£500 pcm.
The test
Scheduling social media content means that we can plan activity weeks in advance, ensuring that a client’s content is regular and their tone of voice is consistent.
What we asked this tool to do
Schedule social media content

How it performed
There are a few ways to schedule content on Hootsuite, we found that using the ‘new post’ creator tool in the top right of the dashboard was the easiest way to do it.
When creating content you can use the boxes on the left to select the account you’d like to post to, then add your text and media – in this case we added a ‘yay’ GIF!
You can also set a location, shorten links and schedule the content to be posted on a specific time and date. It’s a life saver and makes social media marketing a lot easier to manage.
Likes
- It’s an effective tool that helps to manage social media content. It’s helpful to have one platform to monitor and schedule content for many accounts.
- It also recently announced an update, which allows you to add media and GIFs to your scheduled content.
- The main dashboard has a feed where you can see all of the upcoming scheduled content, which means any team member can log in and see what has been planned in.
Dislikes
- The only dislike would be that you’re unable to tag people in images, which can be quite useful for Twitter.
