Vaishnavi Ramakrishnan is now director in the Flipkart communications team

Vaishnavi Ramakrishnan, formerly with Edelman India, has joined Flipkart as a director in the communications team this week.

Ramakrishnan will be reporting to Rajneesh Kumar, the chief corporate affairs officer of Flipkart Group.

Flipkart is still in the process of expanding the communications team and expected to hire a lead for the corporate communications team shortly.

With nearly eight years at Edelman India and Abu Dhabi, Ramakrishnan began her career as a TV producer and journalist with UTVi and ET Now.

Last year, Walmart bought out Flipkart in a 16 billion dollar deal, said to be the biggest acquisition ever for the storied US retailer. The acquisition included Flipkart digital payments subsidiary Phone Pe, estimated by market experts to be on its way to becoming a Unicorn in its own right.
