Indian Institute of Mass Communications, Delhi and its five centres declared deemed university by UGC

UGC has declared the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi and its five regional centres as a deemed university under distinct category. These regional centres are spread across India: including Dhenkanal, Kottayam, Aizwal, Amravati, and Jammu.
Currently, the institute offers several PG diploma programmes across specialisations including Journalism, PR and Advertising, Radio and Television Journalism.
This will allow the institute to now offer two-year Master's programmes and PhD programmes, additionally, IIMC can also take up aspects of the National Education Policy.
Set up in 1965, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi is an autonomous institution. It is supported by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting of the Government of India and has developed various regional centres situated in Dhenkanal, Kottayam, Aizwal, Amravati, and Jammu.
IIMC Delhi also offers a diploma course in development journalism to mid-career journalists from non-aligned and developing countries.
The institute also extends training for the Indian Information Service, as a noteworthy feature.
