Abhishek Mahapatra, formerly with Ford APAC, to lead PR at Uber India

Abhishek Mahapatra, who earlier led technology (Smart) and product strategy communications for passenger vehicles at Ford Motor Company in the Asia Pacific region, is now Uber India's new head of communications. Formerly based in Shanghai, Mahapatra will now be based in Gurgaon.

Mahapatra's focus at Ford was on developing strategy for communications on Ford Smart Mobility for the APAC region. This experience and passion for future mobility solutions will be an asset in handling the swift changing world of mobility solutions over and above just transportation.

In his previous avatar at Ford, Mahapatra also managed communications for Japan and South Korea. He specialises in team building, corporate and product communications and crisis management and advocacy,  the later a skill that will certainly be needed to manage the pressurea of the policy environment in India for ride aggregrators like Uber. Mahapatra has also worked with Edelman,Comma Consulting, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. and IPAN Hill + Knowlton.

Since Chavvi Leekha quit Uber last year, after a short stint of few months, Uber now has a head of communications for its India office.
