Samsung Electronics has awarded its complete PR mandate to Avian WE for India. Avian is expected to begin work on the account in March 2019. Samsung Electronics, while largely identified with its mobile phones, it is a conglomerate with products ranging from mobile phones to consumer home appliances, television sets and semiconductors.
Samsung and Xiaomi together make up 60% of India's mobile shipments, making their phones leading brands in India way ahead of Vivo, Oppo and Apple as well as local competitors such as Mixromax who are fighting for their survival in the face of Chinese handset makers.
Last year, Samsung also inaugurated the world's largest mobile factory in Noida, which was inaugurated by the South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will manufacture a 120 million units annually.
Samsung has also laid out the 4 G network for the Jio Network and has also shown interest in participating in the 5 G trials in India.
PRmoment India reached out to Partha Ghosh, VP and head, corporate communications, Samsung Electronics in India who declined to comment on the development. Adfactors PR is the incumbent PR consultancy for Samsung and handled the firm's PR mandate during the global Note 7 crisis.
Reliable sources told PRmoment India that a key priority of the Samsung PR mandate would be content and making consumers aware of the larger brand Samsung rather than as a company who makes mobile phones.
Samsung Electronics rolled out its' budget phone Galaxy M 30 this week. It has also opened bookings for Galaxy S10.
