Tata Group allows Rediffusion, Edelman PR mandate to lapse, will work till January 31st, 2018

The Tata Group, which awards the largest PR mandate in the country estimated at 60 crores annually, has not renewed the public affairs and PR madate for Rediffusion Y & R when it ran out on October 31st, 2017. As a result, Edelman India's PR mandate, routed through a partnership with Rediffusion has also lapsed.

A Tata Sons spokesperson confirmed the decision to PRmoment India, saying that both firms will continue to work till January 31st, 2018.

Rakesh Thukral, managing director, Edelman India, said that, "The Tata Group’s contract for public relations and public affairs services with Rediffusion, and the latter’s contract with Edelman, ended on October 31st.  There has been an extension and Rediffusion/Edelman will continue to provide services till January 31, 2018. It has been our privilege to work for the Tata Group and we will continue to explore opportunities to work together.”

Edelman India has put in a strong performance during the 6 years it has handled the PR mandate.

All the Tata Group companies have been informed of the decision.

The spokesperson declined to name the firm who would be handling the PR mandate beyond January 31st, 2018.

There are several market rumours circulating about who would be handling the PR mandate after January 2018, Prmoment India will report on those developments once there is reliable confirmation.
