Prasidha Menon to move on from Uber, search on for PR lead for India
27th July 2018
Prasidha Menon, head of communications for India and South Asia is moving on from Uber. Menon, took over the lead PR role at Uber India and South Asia in October last year, after a 10-month stint as lead product PR and 6-month stint as acting head of communications for Uber India and South Asia.
Commenting on her time at Uber, Prasidha Menon told PRmoment India that, " It has been an incredibly fulfilling journey, both personally and professionally. The kind of learning and exposure that I have gained at Uber is truly exceptional and perhaps not possible in any other firm and industry. I am extremely proud of the team we've built and the role communications team has played in helping Uber turn a new leaf in its journey. While my journey at Uber has come to an end, you will continue to see me cheer for this amazing brand as an ardent Uber rider!"
Menon will be taking on her next assignment last next month after a short break. At 35, Menon is one of the youngest corporate communications leads in the country along with PAYTM's Sonia Dhawan and Policy Bazaar's Aman Dhall. Menon previously spent 6 years at Edelman India including a stint at Edelman Digital in San Francisco, where she moved as a part Edelman’s Daniel J. Edelman Global Fellows Program. During the fifteen months of fellowship, Menon worked on the communications for the split strategy for HP, currently two separate companies, HP Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise.
Uber has already started the external search process for a head of communications for India and South Asia, in the meantime, the PR team in India will report to Amy Kunrojpanya, Uber APAC's director of public policy and communications.
Uber India has had its challenges in maintaining PR leads. In 2015, Chavvi Leekha stayed as head PR for less than 3 months. The company then did not have a PR lead till Mahapatra took charge in July 2016, who subsequently quit in January 2017 to join Nissan India.
