Should all PR people become social media people?

Social marketing platform, Offerpop, has found that there has been a massive 1357% increase in social media jobs posted on LinkedIn since 2010.

Social and digital has become increasingly important in many industries, and especially within public relations. Business' now understand the importance of social media as a way for a brand to connect and interact with customers and are on the lookout for in-the-know communicators. 

This has naturally caused an increase in social media job roles, as the infographic below shows. 

Has the prevalence of social media jobs affected the number and specification of public relation jobs? Or should PR people just become social media people?
